Is there word on pricing for them when not renewing a plan? I think I need to get a smartphone in the near future

I still love my ancient, historical artifact of a mobile: iPhone 4.

Are you talking about "unlocked" phones? Where you don't purchase them with a contract?

If so... Here is your answer.

I too use an iphone 4 but it's starting to get to the point to where it can barely load tumblr.

Holy shit that is a lot. I don't get an upgrade for another year and a half or so.

Apple doesn't list processing capabilities on either their website or press releases. Is this common for apple products? I figure that's like releasing a car and not telling anyone the HP rating.

The website ( http://www.apple.com/iphone-5c/spec… ) says its using an A6 chip, the old 1.3 Ghz dual core, which made me wonder if they didn't release specs because they didn't want it compared to the more powerful phones on the market.

I'm just not impressed at all the more I keep reading about it. Is there some hidden appeal (other than the obvious "I love everything apple does, so I'm going to buy it" that I'm missing?

Yeah...... It's kind of absolutely insane. Even the guys over at Giz thought it was insane (as you saw in the article).

Sorry man :(

Yes, it's quite common. It's kind of TBD with a true release of the information on release day of the phone, or when someone does a tear down / runs the tests themselves.

Good ol' Apple.

I <3 my GS3

The Galaxy is a great phone.

I'm still more of a fan of corporate transparency and readily-available information about the phone. But then again, that's probably why I haven't bought anything Apple has made.

My idea of customization is phone automation that you can tweak to your needs, not what color your case is.

Then stop upgrading the iOS and updating the apps. I never bother upgrading or updating, and my mobile is lightning fast.

I just like the simplicity and functionality of them. I know that they're not the best phones but I just really like their layout.

Same! And that's EXACTLY why I switched from an iPhone 4 to the S3. I needed more control over everything, as opposed to having it preset for you, and you not being able to do (much) about it.

I'm on the verge of rooting my S3 too. It's now out of warranty, so I might as well.

And I did too, when I moved from a dumb phone to a smart phone. I wanted it laid out for me.

Then I got really tired of it after 2 months, and wanted more access to things, and didn't get it with the iPhone.

Luckily, my contract was up when the S3 came out, and I got one on release day. I still love it.

Ah, see, I can't stand iOS. I couldn't put my finger on why, and then one day I was in a class and the guy in front of me was on his iPhone (probably a 4 or 4S, not sure) and he was flicking between different screens and going back and forth on an app over and over again, just to see the animation. It looked fun, but it was slow and silly, and seemed a waste of resources.

As for functionality of them, apps can do a ton of things now, so I'm always on the lookout for impressive or innovating hardware that can't be replicated by one of the million apps out there.

My 4S still has a lot of life left in it, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to upgrade.

Prior to the official announcements, my thought process was $199 for iPhone 5S 16GB or $199 for iPhone 5C 32GB and I was leaning toward the larger storage capacity. Now that all the details have come out on the camera upgrade for the 5S, I'm thinking I'll wait and get the $299 5S with 32GB storage.

But then, the camera on the 5C would still be a pretty big upgrade from my 4S.

If all things are equal, the 5C is my choice because I prefer the more contoured shape of the plastic backed devices, and I've missed my 3G sorely since upgrading to the 4S.
